After a lengthy trial, a Queens County jury returned a verdict in favor of Mr. Lambrou’s client in the amount of $570,000.00 for injuries arising out of a motor vehicle accident. During the course of the trial, the defendant called numerous medical witnesses to testify that the plaintiff’s shoulder injury and resulting surgery were not caused by the subject accident. With only one medical witness, the plaintiff’s treating Orthopedic Surgeon, Mr. Lambrou was able to persuade the jury otherwise and the jury awarded $570,000.00 to the plaintiff. The applicable insurance policy had a $100,000.00 limit and after the appeal was lost, the defendant’s insurance carrier settled the matter for several multiples of the policy limits fearing bad faith litigation.
On January 13, 2011, after nearly two weeks of a hard-fought trial before Justice Lawrence Knippel, that included the testimony of 8 experts, in a case that was turned down by several other attorneys, Mr. Lambrou persuaded a Kings County jury that the medical malpractice of two Internal Medicine doctors was a substantial factor in the death of a 57-year-old morbidly obese smoker of 40 years from lung cancer for their failure to suspect and diagnose her cancer earlier. The jury was persuaded to also award the family $850,000.00, which, with interest, approached $1,000,000.00. After the verdict, the matter settled.
